Timor-Leste Journal of Medical Science

The Institute of Health Sciences (ICS) hereby announces the call for papers for the first issue of the Timor-Leste Journal of Medical Sciences of the Dili Institute of Health Sciences (ICS). The annual journal publishes articles, original/pedagogical studies, abstracts and essays on all topics and problems related to the Health Sciences in East Timor and the world today.

For the year 2023, the Timor-Leste Journal of Medical Sciences will have as its theme Contemporary Problems, Challenges and Solutions for the Health Sciences and hereby invites all researchers, teachers, scientists, students and interested parties to submit articles, abstracts and essays on this theme by 30 April 2023, to the following Email Address: peskiza@ics.edu.tl or WhatsApp Contact: (+670) 78538979.

Theoretical Framework

Timor-Leste of Medical Science is an annual scientific journal published by the Institute of Health Sciences in Dili, Timor-Leste (ICS). It is intended that, through the theme Contemporary Problems, Challenges and Solutions for the Health Sciences, it will promote possible solutions to the challenges of the present and the future, with a special focus on the areas of nursing, pharmacy, midwifery, nutrition and dietetics, biomedicine and laboratory analyses and sports sciences. However, in view of the breadth of the health sciences, other areas and specialities of the health sciences will be considered. Some sub-themes are recommended, although the authors are free to propose other topics:

• • • The health sciences in East Timor – obstacles, challenges and ways of overcoming them;
    • The training of health professionals – case studies, practices and situations;
    • Academic qualifications in health sciences in East Timor;
    • Challenges and proposals for improving the quality of scientific research in the health sciences;
    • Contemporary problems, challenges and solutions for biomedicine and laboratory analyses;
    • Clinical analysis laboratories – Covid-19, post-Covid-19, tropical diseases;
    • Contemporary problems, challenges and solutions for nursing and midwifery sciences;
    • Education, Nutrition and Dietetics in East Timor;
    • Pathways for sports science and physical education in East Timor;
    • Other topics will be considered in the areas of medicine, veterinary medicine, biology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology.

Selection of papers

Articles, studies, abstracts and essays are accepted. For other proposals (such as books, book chapters and other formats) it is recommended that you contact the Institute of Health Sciences using the contact details available.

The selection of papers for the journal will be based on the following evaluation criteria:
